Assignment 2: Magazine spread

Based on your understanding of the readings for today and the lecture powerpoint, turn in a magazine spread design using the text and visual components that we have provided to you. Magazine spreads have a horizontal design format, and acknowledge a vertical gutter (or fold) through the middle of the field. The spread should read as a single design, not as two independently conceived facing pages.

You may use any or all of the images we provide you for your design, and feel free to crop the images as you like.

The type you choose for the body copy should be legible, and you may use any typeface you like for the headlines. Be prepared to defend your choices.

You should also consider the underlying grid that you use to organize the pages. See p. 174 of Lupton’s Graphic Design: The New Basics.
